This is one solid product with a load of operating modes and accessories! It can be rigged to go just about anywhere and record what us happening either in video, still or time lapse formats. Abiut the only downside I can see is that it only records in h.265 format (a lot of video editors still just read h.264, necessitating conversion by 3rd party software), and the lens is fixed at a wide angle (although over lens adapters can change the lens format somewhat).It also makes a great drop cam for ocean exploration when placed in a high pressure housing on a drop platform like the one I made for it here.

just on vacation for cruise works great

One of the batteries was defective and wouldn’t take a charge. Amazon told me to deal with the seller to get another battery. After jumping through endless hoops, they finally agreed to send me a “one time” replacement battery. They sent the wrong type so I just gave up and ordered another battery at my own cost. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Everything worked as expected!

The video quality of this camera is absolutely superb.But I have consistent problems with things like removing the lens (Keeps getting stuck), getting the battery door open – Have broken two fingernails trying to do this, have even had to resort to using a screwdriver to try to pry it open. Luckily for me, I did not damage the camera at all but you're really shouldn't have to do all of this just to do these things. I agree with other reviewers who have commented on the customer service. There is no way to get anybody on the phone. To me that is a major irritant. Knowing that everything has to be done by email it's no way to do business. Especially after the cost of these cameras. True the hero 13 itself is a great value, but after you pay for the lenses and other accessories it takes to get all of the things you purchased the camera for working, i.e. the anamorphic lens, the macro lens, the flash, the media mod, the light mod and all of the other things, you're going to spend over $1000 for all of these things. I watched two YouTube videos singing in the prices of this camera, and the quality of those videos is what got me to purchase this. Just be aware like I said before, the video quality is superb. Can be a pain in the ass to change lenses, change batteries, Open the door to change the batteries, and very very big consideration. There is absolutely no zoom on this camera whatsoever. If you wanna close up shot, do you have to use the macro lens, or walk right up to your subject and get as close as you can. I turned on using this to take travel videos and I'm sure I will get spectacular shots. Just see the YouTube videos on how to use this, purchase the manual you can get on amazon.com, and be patient with yourself. There is a learning curve here for most people.

Cruel customer service designed to waste your time and frustrate you. My camera arrived defective and GoPro makes it impossible to speak with any customer service instead forces you to waste hours filling in online forms and searching for tiny hidden serial numbers then makes you wait for days to receive a useless response that wastes more of your time before offering no repair, replacement or refund. Criminal. Beware.
