As expected

Product looks exactly the same as the Gizzmo I purchased form a local swimming pool dealer 23 years ago in 1999. The main reason I bought another one is that even though this one is the exact same color and size as my old one, I just wanted to have a spare on hand in the event the projected rough winter here in the NY Metro area causes it to fail after 23 years of good use.

I was reluctant at first but I decided to give it a try, we get deep freezing in Massachusetts. I used to partially drain my above ground pool but I had a lot of problems after closing for the winter. I use water bags to hold a mesh cover over the pool, After repeated rains and snow, the water bags and mesh cover got pulled quite a bit becoming displaced and falling into the pool, or to the sides of the pool, big pain in the rear to replace the bags and stretch the cover. I used this gizmo, combined with a return plug and did not drain the pool at all. I was concerned at first because watershed gizmo did not seal tight, but after opening the pool early this summer, there was no damage to the skimmer or any other parts. It din not only save me work mantaining the cover and bags in place during the winter (because they did not move at all since the water level was maintained), but also saved me money in refilling the pool, and more importantly, I was able to open the pool in one afternoon, instead of at least two days as before. An incredible improvement from a cheap device. I wish I would have done it earlier! I do recommend it.

I have a pool built in 1983. My skimmer is Hayward SP-1084 and takes a 1 1/2” The threaded section of this gizmo isn’t long enough to reach the threads inside my skimmer. I so wanted it to work but it didn’t.

Pretty heavy duty. Should last years and years. Pro tip: Always line the threads with Teflon tape!
