Romanian Folk Tales: In English and Romanian

There isn't much historical & cultural accurate & not just dry things out there about Romania. This is very appreciated <3

This is awesome! It's bilingual, so on the left pages you have the story in English and on the right, you have it in Romanian. The cool thing is that the start and end point on each side is the same spot in the story even if you end up with half a page of white space on one side. That way you can be sure that you're looking at the exact same text on both sides. It perfect for when you start ramping up your Romanian language learning. You can start dissecting the sentence structure and vocabulary with the support of the English version.

The translation makes the stories loose their meaning. It's good that it has the Romanian original also, otherwise i wouldn't recommend this. It was a present for my American friend and even he noticed by comparing both transcripts the faults in the translation. Otherwise, great book!

I and my husband started the Christmas Day reading from this book. We both love Petre Ispirescu since we grew up with his stories. What we like about this particular book, is the translation on the other page. We hope our children will enjoy the stories in both languages. ( the Romanian version sounds much better, although the translation in English is not bad at all).

The book was full of stories and art work, just what my daughter was looking for. She really enjoyed reading them.

Loved that I could buy this with the original romanian and the English translation. That being said, the translation wasn’t entirely accurate, extra phrases or sentences where added in the English translation that wasn’t in the Romanian. I wish there had been a translator included with a better intro, I found a bit confusing.However, it’s a wonderful collection of stories that I can someday share with my family.

Helps a Romanian beat a little homesickness.
