I wasn't expedting much, to be honest, for this price, but I was pleasantly surprised! I plugged it in - no instructions, which would be handy, but the controls on the back make enough sense for me. In daylight is dazzled and, at night time, it lit up our big back room with ease. I experimented with the buttons and found a variety of different flashing modes. It's going to be great for our family parties and parties we run for local kids groups. I'll buy a second one to have one either side of the DJ gear. I see you can plug it into professional units for greater control, but for a down with it dad like me, the standalone unit is absolutelyperfect. I get it at a discount for an honest review, but will be buying a second one at full price as it is so good, bright and robust. When my wife and I got married it was both our second time round and as such, we decided to leave politics behind, fund and organise it ourselves and this included the “disco room”. This meant we had a very large and older type of these disco lights up in the loft and since getting it down the kids love having it on whilst they dance away to pop tunes.When I saw this new and more modern approach to the solution I thought I have to have one for the kids to play with at Christmas. The Aootek LED Par Lights Stage Lighting comes in a very unassuming box that was a little crumpled and contains, the disco light, fixings, metal bracket and instructions. The first set of lights sent to me were completely dead and would not power on so I contacted the seller and upon sending them a video to prove the broken lights, sent another set out with no complaints and no extra cost to me.Obviously, after this initial disappointment, I was looking forward to getting the working light to see if it would be any good for my kids. Upon receipt of the new light, I fixed the metal bracket/stand to the lights and plugged it in and wow, what a great light. The light is not that big but doesn’t half send out a good light show. The power cord is a little short so annoyingly will probably always have to be plugged into an extension lead but that aside it’s a great little unit. There is a small LCD menu screen at the back and this can be used to scroll through the different light settings. I have to say every time I use it though I just love the sound activated mode that flashes different colours in time with voice or music so this will probably be the favourite with my kids.The other modes are good being simply colour changing and strobe effect and if you are a DJ you can also use the DMX connection but I’m not a DJ so unable to comment on its usability.Overall, this is a great little disco light that stays relatively cool, is super bright and really simple to use. The casing is plastic and looks a little fragile and the metal bracket isn’t particularly strong but does the job so hence the 4 star review. I would recommend to anyone and will probably have to buy another as my kids will be fighting over this one at Christmas.I was lucky enough to get this almost for nothing for the chance to review but have based my review on the point-of-sale price shown which I would pay if I ever need to replace it. This is an excellent light at a fantastic price.It came packaged nicely in a box just the right size so no wastage and inside was the light wrapped in a plastic bag and the instructions. The front of the light also had a square of polystyrene in front for protection.The first thing you notice when you plug it in is how bright it is, we used it as the only light source at our last rehearsal and it provided more than enough light for everybody to see what they were doing in the 7m square room, it will be perfect for live music and DJ's.The menus are a little tricky to navigate at first, mainly because the instructions are quite basic and in not very good English, but it didn't take long to get the hang of it. You can have it on any of 5 preset programs, or auto which scans through these presets, otherwise a plain static light in any colour or in sound mode where it reacts to sound. It also works well with DMV too for anyone who has experience it using this, it can work in either 3 channel or 7 channel modes. The power cable could be longer if i'm being hyper critical, but it is around 1.5m so this is probably about standard, but overall I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to anybody who needs some good value, quality lighting.Please note that I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest and unbiased review, this has not affected my opinion of the product in any way though.

I must point out at the start that i didn't purchase this for its intended purpose. I'm a photographer and I'm using this light to cast on sheets for backdrops. I also purchased this at a discounted rate.As part of my review I did however use it as stage light. Very solidly built light. The light has a great range easily filling my lounge, dining room and kitchen. a good range of options for the display but the instructions are little ambiguous. The pulse to music is excellent and the strobe works very well.The unit comes complete with a mounting bracket that is securely fixed to the body go the light nice and snugly. The heat generated after 1 hour's use is only to be expected but it's nothing to cause concern at all. The item is fitted with a moulded UK plug and is of reasonable length but I would suspect an extension cable would be needed for party use etc.I can see this light being used by my partners daughter for teenage sleep overs and Dance Party's which is a good sign as to the quality of the output because as we all know, 14 year old girls know whats what ;o)all in all i'm delighted with the product and would have no hesitation in recommending the purchase of this to anyone.
