I am very pleased with the video from these cameras
I am very pleased with the video from these cameras. I would give the system 5 stars, but the cameras were very finicky when connecting to and staying connected with my WiFi system. Our house has roughly 4000 sq. feet, plus a three car garage and a workshop. I installed six cameras outside the house to cover the front, back and driveway, including the exterior doors. The cameras would connect and disconnect with the system with no apparent reason. Then we went out of town for a few days, and I was unable to view the video most of the time we were gone which defeated the purpose of the cameras.I already had upgraded to a $300 Linksys Max-Stream AC4000 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Tri-Band Router that provides great range. To resolve the connection issues, I installed two Ethernet connected access points and one range extender. I also reserved the IP address for each of the cameras. Since then the cameras seem to working much more reliably. My point is that you must have a strong WiFi signal to make the system work well.The NVR software and iPhone app work; however, they leave a lot to be desired. There are areas in the menus that do not let you do anything. Then again, you can do those things in other menus. It is confusing and these is no easy way to figure it out. Once you do figure it out, it is somewhat cumbersome but does work.As stated in the sales information, these cameras require a 120v electrical source which can be a problem if you want to make the cameras as tamper proof as possible. Luckily, I had space in my attic to run additional electrical so I was able to have hidden wiring.The cameras provide good, clear color video. The ability to view the recordings is very good. It is fairly easy to find the video of what caused an alert and to make a video clip of it. It would be nice if you could zoom in on a face or a license plate, but if there is a way to do it, I haven't found it.All in all, the system is at least a 4.5.Update 9-10-19:All cameras are still working well. With the exception of short periods after power outages when the cameras are a pain to bring back on line, the system works quite well. I love being able to view the cameras when I am out of town to check on whether it’s raining, the housekeeper has been or is at the house, the yard man is keeping up the yard, and so on.

So full of bugs and issues that it's utterly useless and will make you angry
I really wanted to like this system, but it has proven to be virtually unusable, LOADED with bugs and hassles.Examples:When i try to view the video from any of my four cameras, i frequently get the message, "Establishing secure video channel...", then eventually, "Poor connection.Please try again later." However, i know the cameras all have strong signals from my wireless mesh system. Zmodo told me to un-install and re-install the app, and sure enough, that typically restores live video capture and i find that video from the cameras was being recorded the whole time. I had the latest version of the app all along but I've now re-installed it multiple times and this is getting VERY old.When i try to play back video from my NVR, i often see the message, "Establishing secure video channel...", then eventually, "Query Failed". Onceagain, if i re-install the app, i find that there is no problem connecting to the cameras or the NVR.Though the NVR has a massive amount of storage, it quickly deletes chunks of video, including chunks when motion was present in the channel. Going back a couple days, all i have are a few seconds here or there, disconnected from one another, and showing nothing in particular. Meanwhile, times when i know for a fact there was a lot of motion captured, have been deleted.When i get motion alerts and click them in the Zmodo mobile app, the app inevitably loads, but fails to show any alerts. I have to close the alerts screen, then re-open it.Timestamps on ALL four of my cameras are WAY off. One is 7 hours ahead (seems to be showing UTC, but i've confirmed that all four cameras are set for Pacific Time). Two others are 45 hours behind, and the fourth is 48.5 hours behind. All are advancing normally. Yet, in the "Live View",they all seem to be showing current activity.Just now when i checked the web app looking for video of a hit-and-run accident that happened right outside my house, i found that it says, "Device is offline". I haven't had any problems with my power or wireless connectivity for weeks so there's no excuse for the NVR to be offline.It is ALWAYS something with this system, and their tech support either fails to respond or tells me to power everything off and on and re-check the settings and re-install the app. Thanks for nothing!

Overall I like the performance
Overall I like the performance, it was somewhat easy to set up. I had intermittent issues with the alerts settings and getting forwarded to the Android phone app, but after some assistance form the help desk it seems to have worked itself out. I do like that I can check on my system from dang near anywhere. Helps give some peace of mind.

So far so good *** update
After having the system installed and working, it is now consistently having the camera “offline” or “disconnected”. I want the system so I can depend on the remote viewing and I cannot. Looks like I will need to return this. Very disappointing.I have just received the unit but so far so good. You do need to follow the instructions. That said setup went very easy for me. Quality is good. The app is easy to use. The black camera is better then white for blending in. Also the software for reviewing video is much better then other systems I have used.

Fantastic image quality and alerts!
I followed the instructions and took my time setting these cameras up. They have worked perfectly so far. The image quality is excellent and the automated motion alerts work great. I am looking forward to Zmodo releasing more devices e.g. Lightning and more camera options. I do plan to extend my system.

This product works but not without a struggle setting it ...
This product works but not without a struggle setting it up. Zmodo's customer support is virtually non-existent. I've tried calling their support line and wait times are always an hour or more ... literally. They are altogether non-responsive to their "live chat". So if you buy something, you need to have more than a little technical competency and the patience to work through problems on your own.
