Q: can Iuse this product for my 55 lb pontoon boat?

OOPS I think i was taking about my kayak dolly system. I have two kayaks hoists. My 12 footer is 52 pounds. I think your pontoon boat at 55 Lbs will be okay. You might have to make two longer straps around your boat and then hook them to the hooks on the hoist. No modifications beyond this.

Q: Has anyone replaced their ropes? What size rope did you get?

I have not but 3/8" is what I would use

I tied a rope between the two straps to keep them from slipping off. Mine work great and I have three kayaks, two 11 ft ones and a 14 foot one.

Q: What are the length and width of the straps ?

Straps are 7'9" long and 2" wide. They were too long for me, hung too low from the beams in my garage, not allowing me to get my car in. I ended up using two tie down straps instead. Other than that I love the pulley system, makes it much easier to store and retrieve.
